I’ve never actually owned an iPod before, so I decided to treat myself by going out and buying the orange 8 GB. First of all, I love the appearance! The color’s awesome and it’s so thin it fits anywhere!
I was reading some of the reviews complaining about the cover art scroll thing, but I don’t have a problem with it. I usually lock the buttons whenever my iPod goes into my pocket anyway, so it wouldn’t make a difference to me which mode it’s in.
PROS: size, shape, and sharp little screen. Seriously, I’ve never seen such a high resolution in a tiny little thing, I love watching my shows on it! Obviously, the sound quality is fantastic. I enjoy the motion-sensitive games that come with it too.
CONS: I don’t really have any. I suppose the only con for me would be that the scroll is a little difficult for me to use (though I have hyperhydrosis, meaning my hands get sweaty often.) Also, this isn’t really a con, but I wish there was a stop button. I’m a little OCD and it drives me crazy that I have a song paused when I’m not actually listening to anything.
I love this iPod!

I’m always skeptical if they can improve the next iPod. I just got the brand new iPod Nano 4th generation. It’s quite the impressive device. The thinness blows my mind.
COOL NEW FEATURES - This new generation iPod Nano features accelerometers like had been in the iPhones and iPod Touch. This sensor knows when you rotate the device sideways, so that cover flow view appears automatically. Brilliant! Furthermore, if you want to change up what you’re listening to, just shake the device. Some games will also use the accelerometer.
The new Genius feature is also great. Select a song, and then tell the iPod you want to use the Genius feature. It will find songs in your collection similar and create a playlist to suit the mood you’re in. You’ll be amazed by what it finds!
The way they curve the metal and glass is so incredibly impressive, when you see the device in person. Next, the device has a very solid feel to it, and the colors are gorgeous, all of them.
Space - This is the 8 GB version, which I think is great. However, if you want extra space, the 16 GB is just fifty more.
Overall, the new interface of the Nano is gorgeous. You’ll enjoy using this device.
Finally, if you’re looking for a solid music player, the iPod Nano delivers fantastic features and continues the solid iPod line. Really, what else could you need in a small music player? I think it’s fantastic, and I can’t wait to go continue to enjoy the music on mine.

The 4th generation iPod Nano reverts to the long skinny design of the 1st and 2nd gen Nanos, with the addition of a 2 inch screen (the same size my 3rd gen 40gb iPod had). The increase in screen size makes watching video clips (which automatically turn to landscape mode) and viewing photos a treat and the resolution is crystal clear.
Another added feature is the accelerometer which makes it act like the iPhone and iPod touch; the screen reverts to “coverflow” mode when the Nano is titled on its side. I must say, it works much better here than it does on the iPod classic where it’s an eye catching but useless feature (due to its sluggishness). I also like the way it goes through the alphabets when you scroll fast through coverflow and I wish this could be added to the iPod classic (well, my 160gb one at least).
Another bonus from the accelerometer is that jogging the Nano makes it select songs at random, and there are some games included (like the Maze) which rely on tilting hand motion, pretty cool.
Album cover art (if you have any, that is) fills the screen up while the selected music is playing, and I wish this could be extended to the iPod classic as what we get is a tenny weeny view of the cover. Reading text isn’t such a strain on the eyes as one would expect. Sound quality is super, battery life is 24 hours for music and 4 hours for video.
If your music collection isn’t too large, or if you want to use your MP3 player while jogging, at the gym, etc (the flash memory can withstand jolts and shock), then the Nano might be for you. It also connects nicely to most of the docks and audio accessories available.
In summary, another winner!!!
