iPad: Pros & Cons
The Apple iPad has some very interesting features aboard. I will try to put the most important features.
Size and shape
The aspect ratio of the screen is quite unconventional. The screen is only 1.27 cm thick and measuring 24.28 by 18.97 cm. The unit weighs 0.68 kg and 0.72 kg with wifi or 3G connection available.
Screen
The multitouch screen measuring 9.7 inches diagonally. Smaller than the smallest MacBook, but larger than the iPhone. The screen resolution is 1024 by 768 pixels.
Content
The iPad is only weighing just over half a kilogram. It uses January 1 GHz ARM A4-chip and Apple has 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB of flash memory, Wifi 802.11 n, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, a 30-pin iPod connector, a speaker, a microphone, an accelerometer and a compass on board. Video output is via an iPhone-like composite adapter up 576p, and via a dock-to-VGA adapter up to 1024 by 768 pixels. No HDMI, no DVI. Not even a Mini DisplayPort. 3G can be optional and will cost you more, not less. The iPad has no camera.
The battery
Ten hours of continuous use and one month standby time.
The operating system
The same OS as iPhone. You can only see one application at once and there is no real windows.
The keyboard
Type with ten fingers just as like the real keyboard.
The browser
MobileSafari updated version with no Flash.
Accessories
A book-like holder, normally a dock and a keyboard dock. The Apple iPad also supports Bluetooth keyboards.
